Parliament of Kazakhstan: Joint Parliamentary Commission Formed on Draft Constitutional Law on the Special Status of Alatau

The Mazhilis has ratified amendments to the Agreement with Kyrgyzstan on checkpoints across the state border.

The Chambers of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan have formed a Joint Parliamentary Commission to consider the draft Constitutional Law “On the Special Status of the City of Alatau.”

The decision was taken during separate plenary sessions of the Mazhilis and the Senate, held in the context of discussions on implementing the President’s initiatives announced at the National Kurultai and ensuring legislative support for ongoing constitutional and parliamentary reforms.

The Joint Commission includes members from both Chambers of Parliament.


From the Mazhilis of the VIII convocation, the Commission comprises:
- Sabilyanov Nurtay Salihuly, Member of the Mazhilis;
- Beisengaliyev Berik Tyrsunbekovich, Member of the Mazhilis;
- Kuspan Abzal Temirgalievich, Member of the Committee on Legislation and Judicial and Legal Reform of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Senate is represented by:
- Bolgert Yevgeniy Andreevich, Secretary of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, the Judicial System and Law Enforcement Agencies;
- Shaidarov Serik Zhamankulovich, Secretary of the Committee on Economic Policy, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship, appointed as co-rapporteur;
- Orynbekov Bekbolat Serikbekovich, Member of the Committee on Finance and Budget.
