Kazakhstan held the first Korean stop of its “ALATAU RISE With Kazakhstan” international  roadshow at Seoul’s Lotte Hotel to promote Alatau City, a mega smart city project north of Almaty. The project, envisioned as “Central Asia’s Singapore” by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, will develop 880 km² of land in phases through 2048. The first 440-hectare phase, with a 25 trillion KRW investment, will focus on industry, finance, tourism, and education.

Over 400 Korean government and business representatives attended, discussing partnerships in future mobility, hydrogen economy, and circular economy sectors. More than 90% of the city will be designated as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), offering tax exemptions to resident firms.

Key MOUs were signed between Kazakhstan’s transport and energy ministries, Korean Airport Corporation, GGGI, and RETD to strengthen G2G and G2B cooperation. Officials emphasized the city’s strategic role, legal reinforcement plans, and the goal of integrating advanced industries to create a high-tech smart city.
