Kazakhstan – A Rising Star on the Silk Road Amid Global Trade Shifts

Following the inauguration of the second Trump administration, Kazakhstan’s geopolitical significance in Central Asia has comeback into focus, with the region gaining attention as a key energy supplier and logistics hub. Strategically located at the crossroads of the historic Silk Road, Kazakhstan is leveraging its position to attract global investments.

To bolster its appeal, Kazakhstan has introduced an investment visa system granting up to 10 years of residency to foreign investors. The country has also established the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC), aiming to position itself as the "Singapore of Central Asia." Over the past seven years, the AIFC has attracted investments from approximately 4,000 companies across more than 80 countries, solidifying Kazakhstan’s role as a magnet for foreign capital.

Korean companies are also seizing opportunities in Kazakhstan, with Hyundai Motor launching production in Almaty in 2024, marking a significant step in expanding economic ties.

Yuriy Tskhay, Chairman of the Association of Koreans in Kazakhstan, emphasized the country’s strategic advantage: “Kazakhstan is located at the very heart of Central Asia. Its position is extremely favorable,which is why it is attracting significant attention today.”
