The Government of Kazakhstan unveiled its development blueprint for Alatau City, a large-scale smart city project, during a global investment roadshow held at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul, on October 15.

Planned to cover an area 1.45 times the size of Seoul, Alatau City will be developed in stages until 2048 in northern Almaty, aiming to become Central Asia’s largest smart city. Over 400 participants attended the event, including key Kazakh officials, Tskhay Yuriy, President of the Association of Koreans of Kazakhstan, and representatives from major Korean corporations. During the event, Korean organizations such as the Korea Airports Corporation and the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) signed investment MOUs with Kazakh government ministries.

The Kazakh government emphasized its goal to transform the country’s resource-dependent economy into one driven by advanced manufacturing and innovative service industries. To achieve this, Kazakhstan plans to actively attract Korean technologies in future mobility, hydrogen energy, and circular economy sectors.
