A groundbreaking ceremony was held in Kazakhstan’s new Alatau City for “K-Park,” a large-scale cultural and business complex commemorating the 90th anniversary of the forced relocation of ethnic Koreans to Kazakhstan from the Russian Far East.

Spanning 100,000㎡, the project , upon completion by 2027, will feature a park, museum, hanok village, shopping and business facilities. This initiative is led by Caspian Group Chairman Yuriy Tskhay, a second-generation Koryoin (ethnic Korean), and supported by the Kazakhstan government, which designated the site as a Special Economic Zone with long-term tax benefits for investors.

“K-Park will highlight the resilience and success of Koreans in Kazakhstan while creating a space to share the memory of forced migration with the global diaspora,” said Chairman Tskhay.

The project also reflects strong influence of the Koryoin community, which, despite making up just 0.6% of Kazakhstan’s population, is prominent in business and public life.

Aligned with the government’s vision to transform Alatau City into a hub for advanced industries and investment, K-Park is expected to become both a memorial landmark and a driver of new economic opportunities.
