The project, valued at more than 800 million US dollars, includes two towers standing 272 and 78 meters tall. Located in Alatau’s developing business district, the complex will feature offices, residential units, a hotel, retail facilities, and public spaces.

Bozumbayev stated that the development of Alatau remains under the direct supervision of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. A special legal regime is being introduced gradually at the President’s initiative to improve investment conditions and establish a modern governance framework.

Investment activity in Alatau has increased, with fixed capital investment rising 1.6 times to 70.3 billion tenge during the first nine months of 2026. The city’s investment portfolio currently comprises 67 projects valued at nearly 6.9 billion US dollars, potentially generating around 55,000 jobs.

Infrastructure development is also progressing, with 28 projects underway and 35.3 billion tenge allocated from the reserve fund. Major works include the reconstruction of the Kokpa-1 substation, construction of water supply facilities, and road repairs to support new businesses and future construction.

The deputy prime minister emphasized the importance of completing Iconic Complex on schedule while meeting seismic safety, energy efficiency, and construction quality standards. He also called for the participation of Kazakhstani companies and specialists.

Under the special legal regime, an independent technical review mechanism involving international experts has been introduced to apply international best practices in evaluating complex construction projects.

“We expect Iconic Complex to set a new standard for design and construction quality and contribute to Alatau’s development as a modern city. The project must be completed on schedule while meeting stringent quality and safety requirements,” said Bozumbayev.

China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) is the general contractor, while the architectural concept was prepared by the US-based firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM).

Construction of Iconic Complex is expected to be completed by the end of 2029.

Earlier, Qazinform reported that a KAIST branch would open in Alatau.
