Yuriy Tskhay, an ethnic Korean and Chairman of Caspian Group, discusses development of Alatau City, previously known as G4 City. Alatau City, located to Almaty, Kazakhstan’s capital before 1997, is Central Asia’s largest smart city project, envisioned to become a global hub comparable to Dubai or Singapore. With a 25 trillion KRW investment across 111,800 hectares, the project is set to produce $37.2 billion in goods and services and create over 1.1 million jobs by 2048. Mr. Tskhay, founder of Kazakhstan’s leading Kaspi Bank and named among Kazakhstan Forbes’ top 50 influential business leaders in 2014, is promoting Korea-Kazakhstan collaboration through the group’s Korean office Caspian Korea in order to integrate Korea’s cutting- edge smart city technologies into Alatau City. Dedicated to a concept of sustainable development and green growth, he aims to contribute to economic growth, support social initiatives, and encourage Korean companies’ involvement.
