Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea continue to strengthen their enhanced strategic partnership, built on more than three decades of diplomatic relations since 1992. According to Ambassador Arystanov Nurgali, bilateral ties have matured into a forward-looking relationship grounded in political trust, shared values and a common commitment to sustainable development. The year 2025 marked a particularly dynamic period, with intensified political dialogue, expanding economic cooperation and growing people-to-people exchanges.

High-level engagement remained central to this progress. In July, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President Lee Jae Myung reaffirmed their commitment to broad-based cooperation, while Kazakhstan confirmed plans for a presidential visit to Korea in 2026, including participation in the Central Asia–Republic of Korea (C5+1) Summit in Seoul. Parliamentary and economic diplomacy also gained momentum through meetings between lawmakers and senior officials, as well as investment-focused events such as the Alatau Rise With Kazakhstan Roadshow and AIFC Connect in Seoul, highlighting opportunities from critical minerals to artificial intelligence.

Economic ties form one of the most dynamic pillars of the partnership. Korea ranks among Kazakhstan’s top foreign investors, with cumulative investments exceeding $11 billion and nearly 900 joint ventures operating across sectors such as automotive manufacturing, finance, healthcare and high technology. Tourism, education and cultural links are also expanding, supported by visa-free travel, growing air connectivity and rising student mobility. Looking ahead, both countries see strong potential to further deepen cooperation, with the enhanced strategic partnership positioned to contribute not only to mutual prosperity but also to regional stability and long-term development.
