Deputy Prime Minister Bozumbayev Kanat held an onsite meeting on the development of Alatau City with the participation of vice ministers, representatives of the Construction and Housing Committee, the Alatau SEZ, local authorities, and major investors.
Participants reviewed key issues in housing and utilities, road construction, and the development of healthcare, education, and sports facilities. The city now includes 12 former settlements transformed into districts, with an approved General Plan and newly formed territorial bodies of central government agencies. Alatau covers 88,000 hectares and has a population of about 54,000.
Akim of Alatau City Utenov Arken reported ongoing logistics, medical, and food‑industry projects. Twelve investment projects-expected to create more than 6,000 jobs-are planned for transfer to the SEZ, while major anchor projects will be located on 5,800 hectares. He emphasized the need to shorten administrative procedures to accelerate investor participation.
Deputy Prime Minister Bozumbayev Kanat announced that a dedicated Government‑level Project Office will be established to coordinate ministries, local authorities, and businesses. The office will systematically address investment conditions and improve the environment for living and working in Alatau. He also instructed officials to speed up design documentation and sectoral infrastructure schemes, and tasked the akimat with identifying growth points within 10 working days and ensuring their engineering infrastructure next year.
