Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bektenov Olzhas chaired the first meeting of the Council for the Development of Alatau City to review progress in fulfilling the President’s directive to create Alatau as an international hub for business, innovation and technology. Senior government officials, experts, and urban planners participated in the meeting.

The Council discussed the development of the institutional framework, infrastructure construction, and investment attraction measures following the Presidential Decree that grants the Alatau City a status of a city of accelerated development. One of the major issues was a discussion of the draft for Constitutional Law on the Special Status of Alatau City. This law will allow the Alatau City to have an independent regulatory and administrative system, introduces advanced juridical and managerial practices, digitally integrate public services among others. The proposed draft also includes favorable conditions for foreign investors and support measures for development of robotics and digital asset regulation.

Participants reviewed the roadmap for engineering and infrastructure projects, which identifies 30 priority facilities for modernization and construction, with works expected to start next year. The meeting concluded with the Prime Minister instructing relevant ministries and the Akimat (regional government) of Almaty Region to ensure timely and high‑quality execution of the development goals.
