South Korea’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jeong Gwan met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bozumbayev Kanat on October 15 to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in key industrial and mineral sectors.
Amid rapidly shifting global trade dynamics, both sides agreed on the importance of reinforcing collaboration in manufacturing and building stable supply chains for critical minerals. Minister Kim also addressed challenges faced by Korean companies in Kazakhstan, including the lack of logistics infrastructure for Kia Motors’ recent operations and the distribution of counterfeit Korean home appliances, urging swift government support.
The meeting also highlighted cooperation opportunities in Kazakhstan’s flagship Alatau City project. Minister Kim emphasized Korea’s advanced expertise in eco-friendly technologies and artificial intelligence (AI), proposing continued partnership in sustainable and smart urban development.
