Korea Airport Corporation (KAC) will export its Korean Urban Air Mobility (K-UAM) technology to Kazakhstan. On October 15, KAC signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Alatau Advance Air Group (AAAG) at Seoul’s Lotte Hotel to advance the UAM project in Alatau City. The agreement aims to build a strategic cooperation framework leveraging KAC’s UAM technology and operational expertise for ecosystem development, regulatory framework establishment, and demonstration infrastructure.

Attendees included Park Jae Hee, KAC’s Head of Strategic Planning, Vice Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Lastayev Talgat, Vice Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Sergey Khegay, CEO of AAAG. Over the next three years, the parties will collaborate on technology demonstrations, flight environment development, safety supervision, technical integration, and aviation infrastructure.

Prior to the MOU, KAC signed a consulting contract worth approximately 400 million KRW with AAAG on October 14 to support airport-linked UAM operations and demonstration projects. This marks the first export of K-UAM technology by a Korean public enterprise. Acting President Lee Jeong Ki called the MOU a milestone for K-UAM’s global market entry and pledged ongoing support for the project’s success. KAC has also contributed to legal and regulatory development, technical roadmaps, domestic operational concepts, and successfully completed the first phase of the K-UAM Grand Challenge in December 2024.
