South Korea’s Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jeong Gwan met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bozumbayev Kanat on October 15 to discuss ways to deepen economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, Minister Kim raised issues faced by Korean companies operating in Kazakhstan, including insufficient logistics infrastructure for recently expanded Kia Motors operations and the circulation of counterfeit Korean home appliances. He requested swift attention and support from the Kazakhstan government to resolve these concerns.
The two officials also discussed collaboration in the development of Kazakhstan’s flagship New Alatau City project. Minister Kim emphasized that Korea, with its advanced expertise in green and AI-based technologies, can contribute meaningfully to Kazakhstan’s smart and sustainable urban development goals.
