Kazakhstan is developing $25B Alatau City north of Almaty, spanning 880 km². When completed the project will provide housing for up to 1.9M people and create 1.1M jobs. The smart city will feature such industries as urban air mobility, ITS, PropTech, green energy, and advanced healthcare and education.
Korea is set to become a key partner inbuilding up of the new city, recognized for its excellence in global smart city construction. Korean companies like KD Navien, LOTTE Wellfood, and DSME Construction already have operations in Kazakhstan, with 50 firms being active in Almaty’s industrial zone.
Designated as a Special Economic Zone(SEZ), Alatau City offers investors various benefits including tax exemptions, simplified visa procedures, and streamlined one-stop administration services. President Tokayev envisions Alatau city it as the “Singapore of Central Asia.”
The upcoming ALATAU RISE With Kazakhstan event (Oct 15-16, 2025) will provide Korean firms a platform to explore opportunities to take part in this ambitious project.
